The Marden Fields Community Enterprise

To address the on-going problems arising from the individual sale of plots in Marden Fields (Plotlands), the next step is to create a ‘not-for-profit’ community enterprise with the objective of recovering Marden Fields by partnership with ‘plot’ owners and by acquisition of land parcels which may become available to purchase.

A draft business strategy has been outlined in the following two documents:

We would welcome feedback on these documents from individuals in the community.

In order for the Marden Fields challenge to be met and the creation of a Community Enterprise, it is important to secure the following:

  • a team of people willing to give time and expertise
  • financial pledges to fund the enterprise
  • a land ownership database
  • an agreed long term recovery scheme – the first steps for which involve a Landscape Recovery Plan

How can you help?

We are seeking volunteers that can help shape the Community Enterprise in terms of land management decisions, funding potential, legalities and expenditure. Specifically, we are inviting local people to get in touch by emailing mimramvalley21@gmail.com with any of the following:

  1. offers of time and expertise, in particular but not limited to, land acquisition and management, legal management, chair, vice-chair and treasurer responsibilities, website and communications
  2. financial pledges – we are not asking for commitment at this stage but we need to ascertain the level of financial support the Community Enterprise might receive
  3. comments on the proposal – we welcome feedback on any aspect of this community led initiative, and the creation of the Community Enterprise

It is important for all potential funders to note that there is no prospect of a financial return. Any surplus income over expenditure will be ploughed back into the scheme. The benefits from investments will be altruistic, visual, aesthetic, educational, recreational and environmental.
